Snap-on dentures — also called implant-retained dentures or click dentures — are removable dentures that clip onto dental implants placed in your jawbone. Unlike conventional dentures that rest on your gums and rely on suction, snap-on dentures are anchored securely to implants using precision attachments.
The result? A denture that stays firmly in place when you eat, speak and laugh — without adhesive, without slipping, without embarrassment.
Snap-on dentures vs. conventional dentures
The implant attachments hold your denture firmly in place. You can eat, talk and smile with complete confidence.
Forget messy adhesive creams and powders. Snap-on dentures click into place — simple, clean and secure.
Bite into an apple, enjoy a steak — snap-on dentures restore much of the biting force you had with natural teeth.
Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that occurs when teeth are missing. This keeps your facial structure intact.
Snap-on dentures can be removed daily for cleaning, just like conventional dentures — but they stay firmly in place when you wear them.
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The denture itself may need replacement after 10–15 years, but the implants remain.
How many implants do I need?
The number of implants depends on your jaw and the type of snap-on denture:
Lower jaw
Minimum 2 implants for a stable snap-on denture. This is the most common and cost-effective option for the lower jaw.
Upper jaw
We recommend 4 implants for the upper jaw to provide optimal stability, as the upper jaw bone is less dense than the lower.
During your free consultation, we assess your bone structure with a 3D scan and advise on the ideal number of implants for your situation.
Treatment steps for snap-on dentures
Free consultation + 3D scan
We examine your jaw using our CBCT 3D scanner, discuss your options and provide a detailed treatment plan with costs.
Implant placement
The implants are placed under local anaesthesia. The procedure typically takes 30–90 minutes depending on the number of implants.
Healing period (3–6 months)
The implants integrate with your jawbone. During this time you can wear a temporary denture. Our lab begins crafting your permanent snap-on denture.
Snap-on denture fitting
Once the implants are stable, your custom snap-on denture is fitted with precision attachments. You leave with a secure, comfortable smile.
Snap-on denture costs at AltaDent
Each implant costs €1,450 all-in at AltaDent — including the implant, abutment, 3D scan and all follow-up appointments. The total cost of a snap-on denture depends on the number of implants needed and the type of denture.
Because we have our own in-house laboratory, we can offer the entire treatment at significantly lower costs than practices that outsource their lab work.
Supplementary dental insurance may partially cover the implants and denture. We provide a detailed cost overview during your free consultation.
Can my existing denture be converted?
In many cases, yes. If your current denture is in good condition, we can place implants and adapt your existing denture with snap-on attachments. This saves the cost of a completely new denture. We assess this during your consultation.
